D9 houses and lords

Explanation
After deriving the D9 Ascendant, identify each D9 house sign, its lord, the lord’s D9 placement, occupants and aspects.
Do not import D1 house numbers into D9. A planet’s D9 house is calculated relative to the D9 Ascendant.
When comparing charts, keep labels explicit: “D1 7th lord” and “D9 7th lord” are different structural questions.
Navamsha is derived from the exact natal degree; it is not a second independent sky chart. Always preserve the D1 placement and use D9 to compare how the same graha maps into the ninth division.
A useful D1↔D9 comparison asks whether the sign/dignity changes, whether the graha becomes Vargottama, and where it falls by house in D9. It should not turn every difference into “good” or “bad.”

- Confirm the natal degree.
- Find the Navamsha number inside the natal sign.
- Map it to the D9 sign.
- Compare D1 and D9 sign/dignity/house.
- Return to the natal topic before interpreting.
Key points
- D9 is derived from D1 longitude.
- Vargottama means same Rashi in D1 and D9; it is a structural fact, not an automatic verdict.
- D9 refines; it does not replace D1.
Common mistake
Do not read a D9 placement as if it were the planet’s astronomical natal longitude.
